Tuesday July 14th Neighborhood Meeting with 21st/Madison Developer

Jim Mueller, who's been involved in many projects in our neighborhood, contacted me to set up this informal neighborhood meeting to discuss his development of the old Firestone site, opposite the Safeway on Madison. Here are links to the City Documents on the project, including the Design Proposal (containing many details of the proposed building).

The City's public Early Design Guidance Hearing, at which you can make public comment, will be on Wednesday July 22nd. The official meeting announcement is copied below.

Wednesday July 15th Neighborhood Land Use Meeting

t
The Central Area Land Use Committee invites our neighborhood to join them in this meeting with the developers of this project. They note:

the project at 203 24th Ave E being developed by Ewing & Clark - designed by Skidmore/Janette Architecture. This particular project is small enough to go through Administrative Design Review (no public Early Design Guidance or Design Review Board meetings) but given that it will create 35 +/- new units, we felt it made sense to engage the developer in a community conversation. Above is the flyer we've distributed to the surrounding neighbors as well as a link to the City's project documents

Here are links to public comment on the project (and other documents). Here are the latest details on the project.

Lights will be turned on at ballfields July 3, 4

Seattle Parks and Recreation will turn on field lighting on ballfields throughout the city on the evenings of Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, to protect the surfaces. The ballfield lights will be turned on at 8:45 p.m. and will be turned off at either 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the field.

The lights will be turned on to discourage the use of fireworks. Fireworks are illegal in the city of Seattle and will destroy the artificial turf on the fields or surrounding facilities. The approximate replacement cost for the synthetic surface based on per average full-size field (110,000 square feet) is $1.2 million. All the fields have been renovated in the past several years and benefit field users including players of soccer, football, baseball, Ultimate Frisbee and lacrosse.

The fields will be monitored by security from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Lights at the following fields will be turned off at 11 p.m.:

·         Bobby Morris at Cal Anderson Park, 1635 11th Ave
·         Delridge Playfield, 4458 Delridge Way SW
